Technical
tree climbing is a sport that is rapidly spreading all over the country. Though
it involves the use of a rope and harness it is completely different than rock
climbing, caving or other sports.
It is safer than riding in your
automobile!
Using a special type of rope and saddle,
climbers are tied
in, on rope, at all times. This allows for freedom of movement with minimal
risk, unlike the type of free climbing that most of us did in childhood.
(We now require all
climbers to wear safety helmets which we are glad to provide)

SGATCA...
began as a
joke the
day Steve was told that since the mountains were too far away people had taken
to tree climbing with ropes! The jest became a hobby which was shared with
friends that involved their friends until it became an association. We invite
you now to join us whether it is a one-time climb, a course, a group adventure
or a full-fledged treefrog and member of our association!
